I need more hours in the day please
Hello good to see you back again I hope all is well. With the winter Olympics coming to an end soon there should be a lot of shows for me to watch over the coming weeks. As like most years I fall behind on a lot of shows and at some point i have to just wait until they have finished there current season and watch them In one got. I used to be able to so this during the summer but as the TV shows on during the summer get better I am going to have to get more creative, I may have to just run on less sleep than I currently do now.
Below are the two New for 2018 shows starting this week
and below that is the point of this blog, 7 of the show's i have been watching this week
As show's i follow start to get renewed for cancelled i will be adding them to each weeks update.
So sit back and enjoy
Starting this week
Instinct (CBS) Sunday 18th
A former CIA operative is lured back to his old life when the NYPD needs his help to stop a serial killer. Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Alan Cumming) is a gifted author and university professor living a quiet life teaching psychopathic behavior to packed classes of adoring students. But when top NYPD detective Lizzie Needham (Bojana Novakovic) appeals to him to help her catch a serial murderer who is using Dylan's first book as a tutorial, Dylan is compelled by the case, comes out of retirement and taps into his old skill set. Though Dylan and Lizzie initially clash, when it comes to catching killers, they realize they will make an ideal team if they both trust their instincts. Based on the James Patterson book.
Station 19 (ABC) Thursday 22th
The series follows a group of heroic firefighters of the Seattle Fire Department at Station 19 from the captain down the ranks to the newest recruit in their personal and professional lives.[1]
What I have been watching
Madam Secretary (CBS)
So glad to have a new episode of this great show on this week, and it did not disappoint.
This wee episode had to stop a trade agreement by Sri Lanka that seemed to be decided by a psychic which looks to be made solely to help the psychic and not Sri Lanka
Also Alison’s roommate tried to commit suicide and Alison fells she was missing the warning sings
This show is great at balancing the work, home balance it’s not too political that they forget she has a family and the problems that come along with that but it also does not got overboard with the family drama as to fell unrealistic.
This is a great Sunday viewing show as it just feels warmly and cosy and can help get you ready for the week ahead
Man with a plan (CBS)
What can I say about this show that I already haven’t well nothing.
This week episode was centred around Adam trying to plan a birthday meal for Andi but he get’s it all wrong because he does not know the unwritten rules that come along with planning a meal.
When Don and Marcy can’t make the meal, Andy tries to get replacements rather then move the date of the meal like it normal.
This back fire’s then the replacements find out they were not originally invited to the dinner and then team up to get to the bottom of the problem
Deception (ABC)
As this is a new show an I have only seen 1 episode so far I try to put a positive spin on my views as I know things can change over the course of a few more episodes and most pilot episodes as there to introduce the characters and what role they play within the show.
This show centres on magician Cameron black who has been out of the lime light after it was reviled he had a twin brother who helped him put off most of his big illusions. This only came to light when he was accused of murder and was reviled to be his twin brother. Believing his brother could not be capable of murder he has spent the last few years trying to find out how framed I’m for murder.
But after drug dealer somehow managed to make a plane disappear from a hanger with only one entrance he believes he must have had help from another magician and then offer’s his expertise in order to find a re-capture the drug dealer.
This first episode was great as we got to see all of Cameron’s team that help him create a new big illusion and can then help him create a plan the capture the person they are after each week.
This episode also showed how he can use the FBI to clear hid brothers name and find the person who framed his brother.
Rise (NBC)
Another new for 2018 show Rise is a show all about the theatre program within a local high school, from some of the preview I read the comparison to Glee was used a few time’s and I can see why.
Both shows have musical moments, and has a football player auditioning for a role in the new school musical.
They are also selling music from the show after each episode similar to what glee pioneered when it first started.
After English teacher asks to take over the theatre program when he find’s out they are doing Grease again.
When he gets the position he change’s this years production to Spring Awakening which is deemed to be too controversial for the school and has to change it to the pirates of Penzance which was only chosen as that’s the only stage and set items they had.
At the end of the first episode we saw the teen’s gather together to burn the pirate related items in a show of solidarity and to show they still want to do spring awakening even with all the controversy.
I have high hopes for this show as i is created by Jason Katims who produced my all-time favourite show parenthood and also stars Jason Radnor from the massively successfully show how I met your mother but i hope they don’t do too many musical moment’s just to have more song;s to sell after the show is over.
Grown-ish (Freeform)
Each and every time I watch a new episode of Grown-ish I am blown away with subject’s they chose to tackle and how well the show both sides of the argument’s.
This week episode highlighted the growing number of safe space’s, a place where like minded people can gather and feel comfortable discussing a topic without fear of other people’s opinions.
When Cal U was considering closing Hawking’s Hall a safe space for the black students to meet.
Zoey and the gang plan a protest to stop the closer. I one of the best scenes of the show they discuss the need for safe spaces in this modern time. One of the best lines of the show and one I would love to have on a t-shirt is “People need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable”.
Superstore (NBC)
This week’s episode followed on for last weeks episode where everybody saw the kiss from Amy and Jonah during the tornado and then spent the rest of the episode making fun of them ranging from making funning mems and asking if they are going to kiss again whenever they were rear each other.
Also, in this episode Glenn was trying to prove Dina that there are still good people in the world by offering a one day amnesty where anyone could come to them and confess to a rule they have broken and not get into any trouble.
This also played into the ongoing story of Mateo being an undocumented resident and could be deported out of the us at any time.
This has been a great ongoing story from him having to brake up with this boyfriend Jeff a member of head office, he also had to turn down a lot of money as they were going to find out he was undocumented and turn in over to the police.
MasterChef: Junior (FOX)
This show make me feel all happy inside, it’s great to see kids have so much fun on TV and have the judges treat them like adults when it’s needed but also remembering they are just kids trying to make something sometimes for the first time.
This week’s episode had some of the contestants team up to try and make the most milkshakes with the winning team safe from elimination and one of the judges have to enter a giant milkshake and get covered in whipped cream.
The two losing teams and the non-competing kids had to put their own spin on fried chicken and waffles which saw some fantastic creations and some not so great. What makes this show is that the kids don’t see it as a competition, they are willing to try anything. As we saw from one contestant make tie dye waffles while after Joe could not see a way the make chicken and waffles more Italian one the kids was determined to prove him wrong and make fried chicken with Parmesan cheese and tomato waffles.
