Welcome to this weeks post.

It’s been a normal week when It comes to my TV watching habits.
The only new additions to my weeks viewing surprisingly has been homegrown.

They have been the brilliant reality-TV show “The circle”. It’s Big Brother only for modern times. A US version currently available on Netflix with a second season due this year.
The other addition from the UK is the return of Taskmasters. I can’t go into why this is the best TV show anywhere in the world it would take to long but just do your self a favour and track down a season and give it a go and please give it more than one episode as it gets better the more you know the players styles

So once again, thank you for taking a look. If it’s your first time and welcome back if you’ve been here before.

If you would like your name at top of the “Hall Of Fame” list that will recognise all my Patrons as a thank you please consider becoming a part of the unnamed crew. By clicking the button marked “Become A Patron”

If you are new and don’t know already,

I have an Instagram account where I post a small image of the show I’m watching; it’s a complete list, then this weekly blog and also more up to date.

Below is just some of the recent posts to get an idea of how my post’s look; if you like what you see, please think about following me.
I am trying to get to 100, and I’m at 91 at the time of writing. So only 9 more to go.

And now finally On with the news

After crash-landing on Earth, an alien takes on the identity of a small-town Colorado doctor as the town previous doctor died of unknown circumstance and wrestles with the moral dilemma of his secret mission, while also dealing with a 9-year-old boy who is the only person who can recognize he is an alien.

Not to sound like a broken record again, but it’s been another slow news week.

The only show I have a passing interest in is Syfy’s Resident Alien. Full disclosure I have not seen a single episode of this yet but it is on my to watch list.

With it being renewed for it’s second season I might have to catch up and give it ago.
And that’s this weeks news.

Any day now the flood of news will come it’s just a matter of time when we begin to know what next season will look like.

I Have Been Watching

Shameless S11 E8 "Cancelled"

Showtime – Comedy/Drama

Shameless 11.jpg

With only Four Episodes left, I'm starting to see the end in sight. With the idea of selling the house a plan, I'm looking forward to how they plan to bring this incredible show to an end.

Frank started to display memory loss in the most recent episode, and some of the Gallagher's began to notice. For most of the episode, both Frank and Liam were trying to develop a new name for Liam's middle school after discovering that the name had been affected by the cancel coulter. During the school meeting, they heard from current and former pupils offering up their suggestions, with the school board checking if it's going the be a problem for them in the future.

During Franks pitch, he forgets what his suggestion was going to be and then mistakes a parent for a former classmate they used to make fun of. After Fank unsuccessfully makes his mistaken friend show his genitalia, He offers to show his first.

Because he shows his manhood to a room full of children, Carl had to take him to the hospital. This is where the family discovered that Frank was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease a week ago caused by his heavy drinking years.

In the same episode, Carl was placed with the Vice squad and asked to buy weed from a list of legal weed dispensers. After many times of asking why he was doing this, he was finally let into the reasons. They were mixing weed bought off the street and combining it with dispensers product to get shut down as the officers still have the street weed sellers in their pocket and take a cut of the profits. On the list was the Alibi pub fun by long time friends Kevin & Veronica, so Carl plans to crash the vice squads fast sports cars, so they forget about the alibi.

And Finally, in the weeks' episode, Kevin gets some great news and wants to make it a day to remember. This ends with Keven trying his best to get V into the bar as there previously postponed wedding at city hall was going to go ahead only this time virtually.

All Rise S2 E10 "Georgia"

CBS – Drama

All Rise.jpg

In All Rise this week, they tried to show the effects of unconscious bias within the US justice system. This was done to great effect. One of side all the available judges had to attend a seminar all about unconscious bias and how they may not know that have it and what impact it is having on their rulings and on the other side Emily has a case where an Asian man is accused of stealing from a high-end jewellery shop only he's adamant he had never been to that store before.

During the trial, it was shown that the arresting officers apprehended a man they believed matched the description of the jewellery shop thief. So when the officers took the suspect into the store and asked the employee if this was the thief. The store worker said it was as she had faith in the local police department. Using mistaken identity to show bias was a fantastic idea as it's something many people can relate too.

It was finally shown that the suspect had been in the store recently, and when he was offered up as the thief, she had no reason to believe it was anyone else.

In a continuation to a season story, Mark got sent another mystery package this time. It was a list of names that included Luke, a current work colleague.

During the training session with the judges, they started to see that everybody has unconscious bias and how it affected their daily job. After first dismissing the training seminars, Lisa took a liking to the woman leading the day as she had first bumped into her coming out of a coffee shop earlier in the morning. It ended with them having a meal and watching a classic movie in a garden.

If any show will tackle a tricky subject as All Rise did, please first watch this episode a couple of times as it was done so perfectly that the bar has been raised and now as a new standard in storytelling.

New Amsterdam S3 E3 "Safe Enough"

NBC – Drama

New Amsterdam 2021.jpg

In this weeks episode of New Amsterdam, Max was forced to make a commercial encouraging people to return to the hospital. This doesn't go down well with Max as he is being asked to lie and say things he does not believe to be true. Max starts offering up other ways to say the hospital is safe enough to return to and still tell what he believes to be true.

After Dora, Max's assistant, shoots down every idea he has, she decides to give Helen the role after a patient misses several chemo treatments, and now the cancer is no longer treatable, and she will not have long left.

At the same time, Iggy is staggering to deal with having to treat his patients via a video call as it's still not safe to have them come into the hospital. During one of his calls, he discovers that one of his patients has been self-harming. This leads to the realization that someone like her who is immune-compromised can't return to a "normal" life after being told to stay indoors during the pandemic, unlike her friends. When Iggy finds out that she had left the house and is now missing, he and her parents try and find her in the place's they think she might have gone to.

Once Iggy finds her in the same place as her Zoom background, he gives her a chance to talk to him about what she is dealing with. This gives Iggy an idea.

After first agreeing to do the PSA encouraging people back to New Amsterdam, Helen begins to have similar problems with the scripted wording, which leads to Helen having a complete meltdown and saying precisely what she believes people should be hearing. After the Outburst was posted online, she became a hospital hero.

With Dora first blaming Max for leaking the meltdown, which he adamantly denies and Helen saying she would not have wanted it to get leaked, they all discover that it was Dora herself how to put it online.

And finally, Iggy takes June and her parents to a local park to meet other teenagers of similar age who are also immune-compromised so she can talk to them about how they are feeling in a safe enough environment. This meeting also lets the parents speak to each other and discuss how they cope with the current situation.

Chicago Fire S9 E9 “Double Red“

NBC - Action/Drama

Chicaog fire 2021.jpg

When a show is renewed for three more season's you know the network has faith in you to bring in the viewers. Even bigger faith then you are part of three shows that interlock with each other.

So this weeks episode, the team was called to a car crash. During a conversation with the taxi driver how appears to be drunk, Matt tries to remove the car keys and drive out of the car. Because of this, the driver hit the accelerator and throws Matt out of the car, where he hit's his head. During the rest of the episode, Matt is struggling to remove a headache.

Another storyline for this episode was that Mouch, Gallo, Ritter and Mackey had to go for mandatory training. During the training, Mouch wanted to show the younger firefighters he could still keep up with them. The showboating almost cost him the certificate needed until Chef Bowden pulls a few strings to explain why Mouch ignored every instruction given to him during the training section. Also, during the training, Mackey is offered a position within firehouse 33. This would also be a promotion.

During Mackeys time away from 51, Bret has to work with Dave Diggins, someone she finds challenging to work with, but this time he is in a better mood. He is also interested in joining the Big Buddy programs. He needs a letter of recommendation, which he asks Bret for. Believing it for becoming a big brother to a child who needs help, she is apprehensive at first until she discovers shes got it wrong. He only wants to adopt a cat. Which she thinks is an excellent idea until the returns the next day with scratch marks on his face and gives Bret the cat as she's the one who gave the recommendation.

Superstore S6 E13 “Lowell Anderson”

NBC - Comedy

Superstore 2021.jpg

This week it was the penultimate episode of Superstore, and they set up the shows final episode perfectly. With Cloud 9 founders son "Lowell Anderson" making a surprise visit to the store, he starts to make changes that make it harder to get essential jobs done.

Some of Lowell's brilliant ideas include the staff no longer having to wear their Cloud 9 banded vest as he believes it puts up a barrier between them and the store's customers. Another Idea from Lowell is that Gleen gets a hair cut, but once he returns with his new look Lowell is surprised that he did it during work hours. Finally, Lowell's stupidest idea is that customers can't touch and feel the products in their box's, telling the staff to take them out of the box's. This plan leads to a fantastic scene with Lowell taking the customers waiting in a long line that this is a better way of doing things. That is until a staff member is single-handedly trying to put a flat-screen TV back in its box and drops it and braking it in the process. So Lowell gets the staff to put everything they have just taken out of their box's and put them back in their box's.

Gleen introduces Lowell to some of the store's staff in a staff meeting, telling them how nice he is. Even when a Cloud 9 store focused his fathers out business, he still took him out to dinner. Later on, he discovers that he offered his father a job at Cloud 9 if he was willing to eat dog food.

When Cheyenne finally has enough of Lowell's crazy ideas and tells him his ideas have been nothing but terrible after he suggests they remove all the selves from the store. When Gleen returns with his new hairstyle, Lowell orders Glenn to write Cheyenne up because she ignored a management member's instruction. This pushes Gleen over the edge, and he makes Lowell eat a can of dog food similar to have Lowell had done to his dad years ago.

Finally, during the final few minutes of the episode, while Gleen is showing Lowell out of the store and giving him a suggestion of another store to visit while he's in the area, Lowells makes a passing comment that he would live to see the store before Zephra begins shutting them all down. So Cheyenne makes a phone call to Amy to see what she knows about the plan to shut down the Cloud 9 stores.

This conversation has set up Amy's return to the store perfectly. It makes me excited to see what's going to happen during the hour-long series final.

Gold Rush: Dave Turins lost mine S3 E1 “Mountain Of Gold”

Discovery - Reality-TV

Lost mines.jpg

When one Gold Rush show ends, there's another one waiting to fill its spot. So in comes Dave Turin for his third season trying to strike it rich in lost and abandoned mines across America.

In the first episode, Dave has brought this team together to mine some land in Colorado, an area Dave had mined before with the Hoffman crew a few years ago unsuccessfully.

During is first few days on-site, he brings in the new wash plant he has called the roach as it is on tracks and can be moved without any other equipment.  During Dave last time in Colorado, they did not have the locals on their side. The crew was shot at one point, and the local authority gave them a cease and desist letter, stoping them from mining. So with all the problems in the past, Dave is determined to do everything by the book this time as it's not just his people's job in the line, as the land he is mining is part of a friends land, and whatever they do will affect his multi-million dollar business as well.

So when the crew spot someone in a white vehicle spying on them, they begin to worry that they might be in trouble. This turns out to be accurate as they are reminded that the mine tailings have to be 50 feet away from the road, making the planned mining land difficult. They would have nowhere to store the tailings until they can put it back after they are finished.

After discussing it with the local council and reassuring them, they wanted to respect the land and put it back as close to who they found it as they could. They were allowed to continue with the way they had been mining so far.

This show is following the Gold Rush formula, and I'm happy with that. I hope this season is going to be as good as the past two.

And there we have it. That’s another update done. Just a quick reminder, please don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and if you have enjoyed that I have been doing here and want it to continue, please consider becoming a patron.
